Mehmet Özcan is Associate Professor of Econometrics at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, Department of Economics.. Dr. Özcan received his BA degree from Cukurova University Department of Econometrics, Adana, Turkey (2010). He completed his MSc at Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey (2013) and holds a Ph.D. degree from Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey (2019). He also served as a research assistant at Gazi University from 2011 to 2018. Dr. Özcan has focused on nonlinear time series econometrics during his master’s and doctoral studies. His research interests lie in the area of theoretical time series econometrics and applied macroeconomics. Dr. Özcan's applied macroeconomics studies, which deal with unit root tests and nonlinear data generation processes in his theoretical studies, have focused on defense economics, monetary economy and environmental economics. Dr. Özcan has a special interest in the effect of informatics on statistical analysis and can use many data science programming languages such as R, Python, and Julia at an advanced level. He has received two recognitions in his research career, including the Prof. Orhan Dikmen Research Award given by the Economic Research Foundation and the most successful student award of Çukurova University after completing his undergraduate degree in the first place. Dr. Özcan, who represents Turkey in many international organizations, is currently continuing his academic activities at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, Economics Theory chair of the Department of Economics.
