FACTORS RELATED TO THE MENTAL HEALTH OF SEAFARERS IN THE MARITIME SECTOR: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Abstract

Ships represent a unique working environment with numerous challenges and risks. The specific conditions on ships may have a more significant impact on the mental health of seafarers compared to those working on land. A systematic review has been conducted to identify the main factors in the literature and to determine their impact on the mental health of seafarers. This review analyzed the scientific literature published between January 2017 and September 2023, utilizing the PRISMA model and search engines such as PubMed and Web of Science (WoS). Factors associated with the mental health problems of seafarers can be categorized as individual factors and job-related factors. However, it has been observed that these factors are interconnected and cannot be considered separately. Improving the mental health of seafarers in the maritime sector requires both individual and organizational measures to be taken.

DENİZCİLİK SEKTÖRÜNDE ÇALIŞAN GEMİ ADAMLARININ RUHSAL DURUMLARI İLE İLİŞKİLİ FAKTÖRLER: SİSTEMATİK DERLEME
